Crawling is for Wussies

This evening, I scooch scooched backwards on the living room floor. The significance of this Swiffer move is that for the most part, I have been refusing to crawl or enjoy an iota of tummy time. I…want…to…run!! But since I had no pants or socks on this evening, I had better traction on the hardwood floors. It was fun scooching backwards for about 2 minutes, then I burst out crying. I really prefer being upright.

Real Estate Romp

It was supposed to rain today. But the weatherman messed up again, and my lazy Sunday (not to be confused with all my other lazy days) turned into another romp through open houses. I was so looking forward to chilling out, but nooooo… Dad and Mom have this crazy obsession with real estate. I’ve already been to a lot of open houses, and frankly, they’re not that fun. All the apartments look similar, that’s what you get with most new construction. I don’t like the ones that don’t have elevators, because I usually get stuck downstairs waiting. Go away social services, I’m not waiting alone , duh. One of the ‘rents will stay with me and make stupid cooing noises to keep me happy. I did see a few buildings with swimming pools (hooray for splishy splashy!), and the renderings also included a children’s playroom. Those seem like a lot of fun. But I’m only 8 months old, I don’t think I want to move yet. I’m just getting familiar with my new home outta the womb.

Sleep, Play, Eat

Today was a pretty mellow day. I woke up early, around 7am. But Mom and Dad were lazy butts and didn’t come play with me. So I just laid in my crib, babbled for 1/2 hour or so, and then went back to sleep. My 2 naps were great too.

Rest is good, since I’m walking a lot. No, not really walking by myself yet. I keep trying to let go of Dad or Mom’s hands, but with no luck. They’ve got some strong paws. Since I can’t shake them yet, I’ll just try to run them tired. I love running around and babbling at the same speed.

Also, can I just tell you how sick I am of Gerber tender peas? I poured on the tears and snot (even blew a snot bubble from my nose – cool!) when Mom fed me peas this morning. She tries to be strict, but I break her pretty easily. Usually one teardrop is enough to make her cave in and give me the milk bottle. Ah, my sweet milky milk beats stinky peas any day. Dad, on the other hand, is not so easy to break. He just mocks me. It’s hard for me to not break a smile at his imitations of me, but I try to keep the “have pity on me” face.

Pop Rocks

Hooray! My dadada comes home tonight from LA. He’s been traveling a lot this year. Something about bacon and new shoes. I do not really know what either are. But who cares, he’s coming home! I miss him when he’s on the road. Soon I’ll get to hear the funny noises he makes when I grab his chest hair, or when I kick him in the nuts. Yay!

Foiled by the swingamathing!

I woke up today full of smiles and curiosity, ready for a day of play. And play I did, for about an hour and a half, until Mom caught me yawning and put me in my crib to sleep. I slept about 10 minutes ‘cuz I’m considerate enough to give Mom enough time to pee and maybe check email. Then I cried for awhile, which scored me a ride in the Baby Bjorn. I finally dozed off, snoring like a freight train. Ok, maybe not that loud. Snoring like Thomas the Train. Then… wha??? The lady who loves to put me in the crib and her grubby hands were hoisting me into the crib again. No way, and this time I’m going to scream my head off for a long time. It was a battle of wills. I scream, Mom rocks me and sings some stupid songs that she doesn’t know lyrics to. Finally I scored some boob-fet and pass out. Then again, I’m hoisted into the crib again. Nope, no way, nuh-uh. I wail and win! Mom gives up, picks me up and puts me in the swing. I hear people say that the swing will put you to sleep, but it had not defeated me yet. Until today. Before I had the chance to give me hoot and holler to be lifted, my eyelids betrayed me and shut down. Damn you, swingamathing, damn you!

Now Oh yeah, writing this post too. I’m a good multitasker.

I know, I know, I’m off-schedule. But I’m having a good time — no nipple nuts and spit spray cries! Miss you, come home soon. And don’t forget to bring me the Gaudi dollhouse that I desperately need or else I will throw a tantrum…

TMB Round-up

Here’s a random list of what’s been up:

-I cried a lot last week, but have pulled back on that a bit once the ‘rents realized I needed to be fed more often. Duh!

-I still cry though. Working on the silent scream where I hold my breath and turn completely red for a few seconds. That always freaks them out.

-I’m getting stronger and bigger everyday. My skin no longer sags, but the back and arm hair are still there.

-Dad was sick earlier this week, so he kept his germy self sequestered in the basement. I missed him a lot. But he’s back now and holding me lots. Now I can show him my death grip by grabbing his chest hair, yay!

-Breaking out the new toys as I get curiouser and curiouser. I love being super snug in the Baby Bjorn. Dad loves holding me in the Baby Bjorn, since I’m peaceful and his hands are freed up to play Xbox 360. What is this Xbox 360, and can I eat it?

-The swing was set up over the weekend. I didn’t take to it the first time, and have yet to try it out again.

-Tried some different pacifiers. They’re ok, but I’ll still spit them out if they don’t have the milk that I seek. Pfffftttt, can’t fool me!

-Went for a long walk around the neighborhood yesterday. I breathed in a lot of bus and car exhaust… hello New York! And we looked at a lot of new construction. Is it safe for a baby to hang out under scaffolding?

-Mom and Dad finally bought my crib and changing table today. Phew. For awhile, I thought I was going to end up sleeping and pooping in the pile of shredded newspapers that are laying in the corner.

Need to take more pics, but Mom and Dad have been a little too tired lately. Those bums!

Here’s me watching football. I think I have to cheer for the Chicago Bears since my Dad’s a big fan, but man, they suck this year.
